BAGUIO CITY – Vice President Leni Robredo lauded Baguio City led by Mayor Benjamin Magalong for being among the best performing Local Government Units (LGU’s) in responding to the coronavirus disease 2019, as far as contact tracing and vaccination are concerned.

Robredo was at Monday’s Flag raising ceremony at the Baguio City Hall grounds where she also led the awarding and recognition for the different agencies that were at the frontline of the pandemic.

“I’ve been to Baguio so many times in the past, even when I was still a child. In fact, after the plane crash that took my husband’s life away, dito po kami nag-Christmas and New Year ng aking mga anak, pero first time po sa akin na makatungtong dito sa Baguio City Hall (we spent Christmas here with my children but it is my first time to go to city hall)," Robredo said in a message.

Robredo said she constantly consults with Magalong who showed capability in managing the COVID response.

“I am so happy that Baguio City has found a way to honor the people who should really take the credit for all the good things that have been happening. The men and women who are doing the more difficult and often thankless jobs, who are being honored today.”

Robredo also visited the state-of the-art Command Center at the Baguio Convention Center and proceeded to the Robredo People’s Council. She will also visit the Good Shepherd Convent at Mines View and will attend the blessing of the Leni-Kiko Headquarters at Dominican Hill here in Baguio City.
