MIAA, PNP hold crisis situation exercise at NAIA 3

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGroup) conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 7, a security response exercise as part of the move to strengthen security response and interoperability between the two agencies at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.

Police Col. Limuel Obon, deputy director of the PNp-AVSEGroup, said the activity was aimed at testing the response capability and assess the vigilance and operational preparedness of employees and response units.

It also tested the coordination with law enforcement agencies on handling possible shooting and related incidents in the airport, and effectiveness of the MIAA airport emergency plan.

Obon said the activity was also in compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Annex 14 that provides for an aerodrome emergency plan established at an airport that will cover the coordination and implementation of actions to be taken in an emergency situation occurring within or in the vicinity of an airport.

MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal extends his appreciation to all participating agencies: “The event assures airport users of the readiness of NAIA agencies to respond to incidents that may put at risk the safety of our travelling public.
