2 suspects in slay of construction worker nabbed in QC


Two suspects in the shooting to death of a construction worker were arrested by operatives of Novaliches Police Station (PS 4) on Thursday, Dec. 2.

Police Lt. Col. Richard Ian Ang, PS 4 commander, identified the suspects as Jayson Garcia, 29, a painter; and Bernard John Parreño, 33, a telephone broadband technician, both residents of Brgy. Gulod, Novaliches, Quezon City.

According to police report, the victim, Ignacio Herbolario, 58, was standing in front of his house on Dec. 1 when the two suspects on board a Kawasaki motorcycle shot him dead.

Police probers later traced two witnesses who claimed that the two suspects had a drinking session with the victim prior to the incident.

The witnesses told police that during their drinking session, the two suspects were already planning to kill the victim because the latter defrauded them in their alleged illegal drug transactions.

The police immediately launched a follow-up operation which resulted in the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of two hand grenades.

Garcia and Parreño will be charged with murder and violation of Republic 9516 or illegal possession of explosives, police said.
