NAPC conducts information dissemination on Magna Carta of the Poor among LGUs in Southern Leyte


The National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) has briefed the local government units (LGUs) in Southern Leyte on the salient provisions of Republic Act No. 11291, also known as the “Magna Carta of the Poor.”

The information dissemination and pre-consultation activity was conducted on Nov. 29 in Maasin City, Southern Leyte.

Headed by NAPC-Grassroots Development Operations Unit (NAPC-GDOU) Visayas Favian Magallanes, the activity aims to educate the participants about the provisions of RA 11291.

Representatives from the local government units (LGUs) of the basic sectors in the provinces of Biliran and Southern Leyte attended the activity.

In a statement, NAPC noted that the activity sought to enhance the knowledge and understanding of the LGUs and basic sectors of the provinces about the salient provisions of RA 11291 and its implementing rules and regulations.

RA 11291 aims to empower and alleviate every poor Filipino to meet the minimum basic needs through the partnership of the government and the basic sectors.

The NAPC reiterated that the information dissemination and pre-consultation activities were part of the agency’s preparation for the crafting of the National Poverty Reduction Plan (NPRP). (Charie Mae F. Abarca)
