Manila nearing less than 100 active COVID cases


The city of Manila is slowly approaching sub-100 number of active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.

Exactly 100 active COVID-19 cases were reported on Sunday, Dec. 5, a majority of which were concentrated in Sampaloc at 18 cases.

As a result of Manila’s aggressive vaccination drive, the city has achieved herd immunity as a total of 1,387,090 have been fully vaccinated out of the total city population of about 1,930,696.

The fully vaccinated population represents 102.63 percent of the Department of Health’s (DOH) 70 percent target population of 1,351,487.

Furthermore, 106,815 minors in the city have received at least first dose vaccination while 47,281 have been fully vaccinated as of Dec. 4.

In terms of booster shots, a total of 54,276 doses have been administered to medical frontliners (A1), senior citizens (A2), and persons with comorbidities (A3).
