C. Visayas crime incidents drop


CEBU CITY – Crime incidents in Central Visayas have dropped in the last two months, the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO 7) reported.

From September 29 to November 28, a total of 1,283 crime incidenta were recorded in the region whichs is a 16.41 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.

"It is a noticeable decrease which is a result of the collaborative efforts of all police units and offices of PRO7," said Police Brig. Gen. Roque Eduardo Vega, chief of PRO 7.
Vega assumed the post as PRO 7 chief last Sept. 29.

The PRO7 disclosed that the Peace and Order Indicator (POI) recorded 1,343 cases with an overall drop of 26.26 percent decrease.

On PRO 7's flagship programs on anti-illegal drugs operations, a total of 1,242 drug personalities were arrested in the past twl months while 19, 220.576 grams of shabu worth P130, 699, 916.80 and 89,057.25 grams of valued at P10, 686, 870 were seized.

In the same two-month period, 931 anti-illegal gambling were conducted that led to arrests of 2,483 persons and the seizure of P258,431 gambling money.

In the campaign against loose firearms, there were 1,135 surrendered or recovered firearms from the161 operations conducted.

"Your BisdaK cops will continue to intensify our flagship programs in the region. Aligned with the Chief PNP's mandate, it is expected that commanders down to station commanders, to predict and plan amid the new normal and forthcoming yuletide season. I urge the city and provincial directors to enforce the new alert level system designed by the Department of Health to help prevent the further transmission of the deadly virus during festivities," said Vega.


The PRO 7 chief also urged his men to enforce maximum police visibility in business establishments and quarantine controlled points "to safeguard the public from lawless criminals."
