PCG welcomes 270 new members


A total of 270 individuals took their oath as newly appointed members of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Auxiliary in Zamboanga and Basilan during their oath taking ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 2.

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade led the induction and oath taking of the new PCG members.

“ou make me happy because I see another 270 men and women dedicated to the cause of good governance,” said Tugade during the ceremony that was attended by PCG officials.

“I see another 270 men and women of PCGA committed to help in the PCGA. Kayo po ay malaking tulong at dapat huwag nating biguin ang inyong pledging and acceptance sa tinatawag nating Coast Guard Auxiliary.”

The new members of the PCGA are expected to carry out the mission to serve the country in safeguarding marine life and environment, as well as conducting humanitarian mission and disaster response operations.

Aside from that, they will also help in eliminating illegal shore activities in the vicinity of Zamboanga, and resolutely uphold the principles of a Coast Guard Auxiliary member.

The newly-inducted members will be assigned to the Coastal Community Auxiliary Division (CCAD) of the agency.

Meantime in Zamboanga City, Tugade also led the oath taking of 188 new members of the Coastal Community Auxiliary Division (CCAD) of the PCG.
