Pasay Mayor Emi orders CESU to be vigilant vs Omicron variant

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano ordered the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) to be vigilant against the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

CESU head Miko Llorca said they have already coordinated with the Bureau of Quarantine for them to monitor the arriving balikbayan and tourists who are residents of Pasay.

Lllorca said the instruction of Rubianno is part of the local government’s efforts to prevent the Omicron variant from entering the city which is now seeing a downtrend in COVID-19 cases.

He said Pasay City residents coming from other countries are required to undergo a 14-day quarantine. They have to take RT-PCR testing on the seventh day.

The CESU head said the city government has already prepared all quarantine facilities for the arriving balikbayan and tourists.

Rubiano called on the residents to always observe the basic health protocols against COVID-19.

She made the appeal during the fireworks display held on Dec. 2 at the SM Mall of Asia in celebration of the 158th founding anniversary of Pasay City.

The mayor thanked the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) for allowing the city to conduct the fireworks display.
