Kai Sotto has revealed the severity of a knee injury that will force him to miss the Adelaide 36ers’ season-opening match against the Perth Wildcats in Australia’s National Basketball League.

The 7-foot-3 took to social media to show photos of his sore knee which was taken weeks ago, but explained that his condition has slowly improved.

“So many people (are) asking me what ‘knee soreness’ looks like, well this was mine weeks ago,” Sotto said in an Instagram story.

“It’s way better now (though). I’ll be back!!!” the 19-year-old added.

Sotto was ruled out of the 36ers’ 2021-22 opener against the Wildcats scheduled later Friday, Dec. 3 after playing just one game in the preseason.

Adelaide is also slated to face the Illawarra Hawks on Sunday, Dec. 5, though there’s still no word if Sotto will be in uniform for that contest.
