Sabong International Spikers held off Global Remit, 25-21, 25-21, 25-17, 25-21 to score its first win in the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) Champions League Men’s Edition at the Aquamarine Recreational Center in Lipa City, Batangas on Tuesday, Nov 30.

The Spikers used a searing run at the start of fourth set and endured Global Remit’s last-ditch efforts to improve to a 1-1 record and boost its chances of securing one of the top two spots in Pool B to reach the semifinals.

The high-flying Jelord Talisayan led the way for the Spikers, scoring all of his 18 points on attacks. Charles David Absin followed suit with 12 kills and three blocks while Geonel Regalado orchestrated the attack with 34 excellent sets.

The Spiker, whose average age is just 23 years old banked on their overflowing energy in the first two sets before Global Remit came alive in the third set.

Sabong Int’l responded with a fiery 7-2 start in the deciding Set 4 to try to pull away but Global Remit had an inspired fightback behind ace Joeven Dela Vega.

Global Remits’ efforts went futile as the young Spikers team displayed poise in the final sequences of the game.

Dela Vega’s stellar 21-point output went for naught as Global Remit is now out of semis contention after dropping to 0-2 in standings.

Sabong Int’l, on the other hand, still has the chance to punch its ticket to the semifinals when it takes on pool leaders and still unbeaten Dasma Monarchs on Wednesday.
