Thousands troop to Zambo vax sites for Bayanihan Bakunahan

Thousands of residents trooped to the different vaccination sites in Zamboanga City today, the first day of the nation’s Bayanihan Bakunahan.

Zamboanga Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar ordered Local Interagency Task Force Chief Implementer and disaster chief Elmeir Apolinario to tap all concerned sectors to ensure the smooth flow of the government’s vaccination program.

Over 50 vaccination centers opened their doors to accommodate the adult and pediatric population for vaccination.

Apart from barangay multipurpose halls and health centers, the local government tapped commercial malls, schools, private and public institutions to serve as vaccination sites.

This is to achieve Zamboanga City’s target of vaccinating 38,992 persons per day.

City Hall Public Information Officer Sheila Covarrubias said there has been no decrease in the target so far, despite the national government’s decision to drop the number of target vaccinees to nine million for the three-day activity.

Mayor Climaco has reiterated her appeal to residents to submit themselves for vaccination to achieve herd immunity for Zamboanga city.

Zamboanga City achieved a vaccination rate of 38% last week.
