The Pasay City Jail is prepared for the transfer of Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation executives to its facility but it will not be to their liking.
This is because Pasay City jail is a 1,000 percent congested facility with 1,104 persons deprived of liberty (PDL).
‘’It does not have a separate facility except the isolation area intended for newly committed PDL which is part of the health and security procedures being observed in jails,’’ Inspector Xavier A. Solda, spokesman of the Bureau of Jail Management and Protection (BJMP), said in a statement released today.
Mohit Dargani, Pharmally treasurer and executive secretary, and Linconn Ong, Pharmally director, were scheduled to be transferred from the Senate Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA) at the Senate complex to the Pasay jail facility anytime today.
Their transfer has been signed by Senate President Vicente C. Sotto III based on a recommendation of the Senate Blue Ribbon committee chaired by Senator Richard J, Gordon at the end of its Friday (Nov. 26) hybrid public hearing.
Solda explained that after the mandatory quarantine period of 10-14 days, the subject individuals would be assigned to a cell in the general population.
‘’Walang special treatment. Walang preferential attention para sa kanila (No spécial treatment). Ang policy ng BJMP, pantay pantay na pagtrato sa lahat ng aming mga PDL, patas na pagmamalasakit sa lahat (The policy of BJMP is that all PDLs are treated equally.)
The decision to transfer them came after the two failed to submit to the committee corporate documents of Pharmally that senators want to evaluate.
They perceived that Pharmally delivered to Procurement Service, Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) COVID-related medical supplies at an overprice valued at more than P10 billion although it had only a paid up capital of P625,000.
They also wanted to check Pharmally’s tax liabilities.
Mohit’s younger sister, Twinkle, will remain at the OSAA after senators waited for her psychiatrist to see her at her detention room.
Mohit told the committee that Twinkle, Pharmally president and a summa cum laude, has mental problems.
Retired General Rene Samonte, OSAA chief, said Mohit and Ong would ‘’be subjected to medical check up and out-processing and some administrative process, including coordination and documentation with Pasay City jail.’’
