Mommy Caring rules 2021 Lakambini Stakes Race

Mommy Caring went huffing and puffing in the early going but blasted away in the final stretch to rule the 2021 PHILRACOM Lakambini Stakes Race at the San Lazaro Leisure Park on Sunday, Nov. 28.

Bred by Esguerra Farms and Stud Inc. owned by businessman and sportsman Hermie Esguerra, Mommy Caring bolted out of the gates and covered the 1600-meter race in 1:43.2 (24’ 24’ 25' 30’) to claim the top spot.

With the victory, owner James Rabano and jockey Lester de Jesus will share the top purse of P1.2 million while the breeder will take home a P100,000 cash prize

Mommy Caring’s record remained unblemished in its three runs this year, having won both the PCSO Maiden Stakes last September and the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Stakes Race earlier this month.

The progeny of Striding Ahead and On A Mission, however, faced formidable challenge this time around with second placer La Liga Filipina going toe-to-toe with Mommy Caring in the first three quarters of the race before the latter made some headway in the final stretch.

La Liga Filipina took home P400,000 while Isla Puting Bato which came in third bagged P200,000. All too Easy and O Sole Mio won P60,000 and P40,000 respectively after finishing in fourth and fifth places in the race exclusively for 3-year-old filly Horses.
