Sista and Purefoods each won two games to close in on sweeping their respective pools in the third leg of the PBA 3x3 tournament Saturday, Nov. 27 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Kenneth Mocon, Leo de Vera, Prince Rivero and RJ Argamino gave Sista a 22-19 win over second leg runner-up Platinum Karaoke before staving off San Miguel Beer for a hard-fought 21-20 victory in Pool B.

Joseph Eriobu, Pao Javelona, Jed Mendoza and Jun Bonsubre downed Cavitex, 21-13, and overcame Limitless, 20-17 to put Purefoods on top of Pool C after the first day of competition.

The Super Sealers and TJ Titans will try to complete a three-game sweep the following day to assure themselves a place in the knockout stage.

Second leg champion Meralco also moved closer towards a quarters spot after routing Pioneer, 21-6.

Tonino Gonzaga, Alfred Batino, Joseph Sedurifa and Dexter Maiquez gave the Bolts a 2-1 record for second place in Pool B behind the Terrafirma 3x3, who are unbeaten in three matches.

Pioneer finished the prelims at 2-2, needing to wait for the results of the remaining matches in Pool A to see if it can secure the third quarterfinals berth.

Barangay Ginebra’s Denice Villamor, Jollo Go, Mikey Cabahug and Jojo Cunanan are tied with Platinum Karaoke for second in Pool B at 1-1 after rallying from a huge deficit to stun San Miguel, 21-20.

Limitless’ Brandon Rosser, Marvin Hayes, Reymar Caduyac and birthday boy Jorey Napoles hold a 1-1 record, its only win coming at the expense of shorthanded TNT in its opening assignment.

The Appmasters took advantage of the Tropang Giga being reduced to only two players after Jeremiah Gray went down with an injury.

TNT, left with just Almond Vosotros and Samboy de Leon, was without Lervin Flores who was banned two games for an unsportsmanlike foul against Meralco in the semifinals of the second leg.
