Escudero vows full support to 'Bayanihan, Bakunahan' National Vax days

SORSOGON CITY – Governor Francis "Chiz" Escudero has signed executive order (EO) affirming full support to the "Bayanihan, Bakunahan, National COVID-19 Vaccination Days" which will happen on November 29 to December 1, 2021.

In his EO, Escudero also directed all the mayors of 14 municipalities and one city to extend full support for the simultaneous vaccination rollout and encourage all government offices, agencies to participate in the event.

He also ordered local government units (LGUs) to allow all their respective healthcare workers to participate during the 3-day nationwide massive vaccination drive, in accordance with Presidential Proclamation 1253 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte.

“The provincial government of Sorsogon fully supports this endeavor and aims to guide its operation in the province having earlier issued guidelines on the ramping-up of vaccination activities locally,” the governor said in the EO he signed on November 24, 2021.

Escudero disclosed that the province is targeting 53,586 Sorsoganons to be inoculated daily during the 3-day vaccination campaign.

As of November 23, Sorsogon has vaccinated 60 percent of its target population or equivalent to 356,433 individuals, Escudero narrated.

“We will reach 65% full vaccination of our population by mid-December since we started getting our ‘fair share’ of vaccines in October, or in less than three months,” he said.

In Sorsogon province, the launching of the nationwide simultaneous vaccination will be held in Pilar town, according to the Department of Health (DOH) Bicol.

During the three-day vaccination campaign, the government is targeting to inoculate some 15 million eligible Filipinos across the country.

"From March 2021, when the vaccine rollout started in Metro Manila, until last September, Sorsogon received 5,000 doses only per month from the national government. However, the province saw an increase in COVID-19 vaccine allocation in October to 50,000 doses every two weeks," Escudero added.
