5 simple steps to healthier and glowing skin

When your beauty goal is to have healthy and glowing skin, proper hydration is an important factor you should never miss.

Regardless of the climate or your skin type—whether it’s normal, oily, dry, or combination—keeping your skin properly hydrated is vital, not only for a glowing appearance, but also to protect your skin against harsh external elements that could cause long-term damage.

Here are five easy ways to keep your skin hydrated.

1. Watch what you eat and drink

“Beauty comes from within” is more than just a poetic phrase. In fact, it is one of the best pieces of beauty advice one can get, especially if you want to achieve healthier-looking skin.

Drinking as much water as you can daily is a cliche everyone has heard of many times, but it’s very much effective in keeping your whole body, especially your skin, functioning properly. Complement this with a healthy diet as well, and avoid consuming food that can dehydrate you. Stay away from salty and processed foods, and limit your intake of caffeine and alcohol. Instead, go for foods that are high in omega-3 fatty acids, like salmon and mackerel, nuts, seeds, and olive oil.

2. Avoid very hot and long showers

While hot showers may be ideal for relaxation, these can be bad for your skin if you do it often and for too long. Hot water can dry out the skin, cause skin itching and irritation, and potentially damage keratin cells that are responsible for forming a protective layer on the outside of the skin. This could prevent skin cells from locking in moisture and even make certain skin conditions, like eczema, worse. Opt for quick cold or lukewarm showers instead.

3. Use sunscreen daily

Besides caring for your skin from the inside, it is also important to protect it from the outside. Another cliche, but very effective in keeping your skin healthy, is to wear sunscreen everyday. As we all know by now, UV rays from the sun can damage the skin barrier, making skin dry, irritated, or even burn it. But even indoors, UV rays and harmful blue light emitted by TV screens or computer monitors could also damage the skin, so it’s best to wear SPF during the daytime wherever you may be.

4. Moisturize daily, especially at night

Moisturizing at night is an essential part of any skin care routine. The fact that your skin is producing more collagen naturally while you sleep, supporting it with a good moisturizer only improves the skin’s ability to lock in moisture, therefore giving it a smooth and supple appearance. Using hydrating face masks before going to bed also allows your skin to soothe and hydrate, so make sure to add it to your routine whenever you can.

5. Look for hyaluronic acid in your products

Whether you’re following the 3-step, 7-step, or 13-step skincare routine, it’s imperative that you carefully choose products with the right ingredients. For skin hydration, look for ones that contain hyaluronic acid, a humectant substance that helps the skin hold on to water.

Specially formulated hyaluronic acid, as found in Hyaloo’s skin care lines, can deliver intense hydration that leaves wonderful benefits for the skin. Hyaloo’s Aqua Plus line features a unique combination of four hyaluronic acids and ceramides that help skin retain water on your skin, while creating a skin barrier to protect from skin damages.

Meanwhile, Hyaloo’s Glow Boost line is infused with four types of Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Niacinamide, and 7 plant extracts like Centella Asiatica (Cica) and Green Tea extracts that help bring out the natural radiance of your skin. It can also help reduce the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles, and leave a plumping and glowing effect.
