‘Squid Game’ actor caught drunk driving in Seoul


One of the actors who appeared in Netflix’s global hit Korean series “Squid Game” was caught by the police for drunk driving in Seoul.

Korean media reported that Korean actor Na Jo-eun (real name: Yoo Hee-sang), 37, was caught by the police driving under the influence on Nov. 25.

The Yongsan Police Station in Seoul booked Na Jo-eun on suspicion of drunk driving and is now being investigated.

Na Jo-eun was caught driving under the influence while driving a Renault Twizy electric car owned by a friend about 270 meters from Itaewon to Dongbinggo neighborhood in Yongsan at about 6:45 a.m. on Nov. 25.

It was reported that Na Jo-eun’s blood alcohol level was enough to have his license revoked.

At 6:49 a.m. the police arrived after receiving a report of a contact accident and confirmed that Na Jo-eun was driving under the influence.

Na Jo-eun reportedly refused to take a breathalyzer test and requested a blood test. However while he was on his way to the hospital, he agreed to do a breath test.

He was reported to have been caught drunk driving more than three times since 2001.

In “Squid Game,” Na Jo-eun played the role of contestant No. 187 and he appeared in a minor role in “The Penthouse” season 3.

“Squid Game” is Netflix’s biggest show of all time, which was viewed 1.65 billion hours in its first 28 days on the OTT platform.

It tells the story of 456 cash-strapped people playing deadly games for a 45.6 billion won ($38 million) prize. It stars Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Jung Ho-yeon, Wi Ha-joon, O Yeong-su, Heo Sung-tae, Anupam Tripathi and Kim Joo-ryoung.
