Inday Sara defends BBM’s decision-making skills

DAVAO CITY — Vice presidential candidate Sara Duterte-Carpio said she picked the former Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr as her running mate because the latter is capable of making decisions.

"Nganong si BBM o si Bongbong Marcos ang akong gipili na running mate o ka-tandem? Tungod kay para sa akoa man gud, importante ang kahibalo modesisyon o kanang naay naagian nga executive position (Why did I choose Bongbong Marcos as my running mate? Because, for me, it is important that he knows how to make a decision or had an experience in the executive position)," the Davao City Mayor said during her speech in a gathering in Tangub, Misamis Occidental on Friday morning, Nov. 26.

"Maglisud ko kung ang akoang kauban - mag ingon ko na Sir mao ni ang atoang problema, mao ni ang imohang pwede buhaton, basin unya motubag - kadyot lang ha, wala ko kahibalo unsa ang akoang buhaton maghuna huna sa ko (It would be difficult for me if I I would tell him 'Sir this is the problem, this is what you could do," and his reply would be "wait, I don't know what to do, I have to think first')," she said.

"Dili pwede ing-ana ang usa ka pangulo (That is unlikely for a president)," she added.

"Kapitan, gubernador, mayor, mao na sila ang mga posisyon nga ang mga tawo nga moagi dinha kahibalo sya modecision (A captain, governor, mayor - these are positions where one knows how to make decisions)," she added.

"Upat kabuok ang iyahang term as governor buot pasabot kanang upat ka term niya nahanas na sya sa decision making (He has served as governor for four terms. That means he is skilled when it comes to decision making)," Duterte-Carpio said.

Marcos served as Vice Governor of Ilocos Norte from 1981 to 1983, and as governor of the province from 1983 to 1986 and from 1998 to 2007.

The son of former President Ferdinand Marcos, also served as Representative of the 2nd District of Ilocos Norte from 1992 to 1995 and from 2007-2010. He served as Senator from 2010 to 2016.

"Mas taas pa ang iyahang giagian sa akoa, kay nag-mix siya og executive ug legislative (He is more experienced than me, he had experience in the executive and legislative branches)," Duterte-Carpio said.

Duterte-Carpio was former vice mayor of Davao City from 2007-2010. Her father, President Rodrigo Duterte was then serving as mayor of the city. She was elected mayor of Davao and served from 2010 to 2013 and from 2016 up to present.
