Bataan road improvement completed, Tarlac rockfall barrier almost done- DPWH

Road improvement has been completed in Bataan while the rockfall barrier system is on its way to completion in Tarlac as government projects continue under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The department started the construction of a 13,852.80 square meters rockfall barrier slope protection by using eco-friendly and green engineering materials at the Tarlac side of the 33.217-kilometer access road.

The barrier installed is along the San Jose–Palauig road in San Jose, Tarlac, which would ensure the safety of travelers and protect motorists from potential erosion hazards.

“Upon completion, the critical sections of access road susceptible to erosion will be safer for motorists travelling from San Jose in Tarlac to Palauig in Zambales,” said DPWH Acting Secretary Roger G. Mercado.

Based on monitoring report of DPWH Regional Office 3, a total of 340-meters or 5,996.20 square meters netting area has been installed under the project’s Phase 1–Segment 1, Phase 2, and Segment 5, while another 3,284 square meters was recently completed under Phase 3.

DPWH Regional Office 3 and Tarlac First District Engineering Office handles the project – or the multi-phase implementation of the rock netting-project is being implemented.

Meanwhile, the department has completed the road widening along Governor JJ Linao Road, which will provide travelers, particularly local and foreign tourists on the way to their destinations in Pilar, Bataan.

DPWH Bataan Second District Engineering Office led the completion of the 1.8km portion of national road aimed to enhance mobility along the area and provide better access to economic activities in Bataan.

A total amount of P42.7 million was allotted under the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA) for the 3.2-meter road-widening project.

DPWH Bataan Second District Engineering Office likewise implemented improvement of the road shoulder, drainage canal, concrete slope protection as well as guardrails and solar street lights for the safety of motorists.
