Access road leading to Cagayan’s famed cave halfway done


CAGAYAN – An access road that aims to promote tourism and socio-economic development in the province of Cagayan is now halfway done.

Regional Director Loreta M. Malaluan said the Department of Public Works Highways – Cagayan Third District Engineering Office (DPWH-CTDEO) started the construction of the access road in the Municipality of Peñablanca.

It leads to the premier attraction of Peñablanca, which is the Callao Cave, one of the most popular caves in the Philippines and the best known tourist attraction of Cagayan Province.

Once the project is completed, it will spur tourism development, generate job, and business opportunities benefiting the residents of Peñablanca.

The construction of the project started May 10, 2021 with an actual accomplishment of 60% as of October 30, 2021.

The road project is constructed through the Department of Tourism (DOT) and Department of Public Works and Highways ( DPWH) convergence program.
