Residents complain of alleged 'ammonia leak' in Navotas City

Residents went out of their houses after being bothered by foul smell alleged to be coming from an ammonia leak in their area on Road 10, Navotas City on Monday evening.

According to a report from DZRH, residents immediately went out of their houses and reported the incident.

Authorities immediately responded to the incident, and are now checking the area.

Mayor Toby Tiangco clarified that there was no ammonia leak.

"Unang una may nag report kasi sakin na may supposed leak noh, so yung una kong pinuntahan is yung planta mismo, kasi dapat yun sarado eh. Pagdating naman natin doon, sarado naman talaga siya, walang operations at pagdating natin doon, wala ding amoy doon (First, someone reported to me that there was a supposed leak, so the first place I went to was the plant itself because it should be closed. When we get there, it's really closed, no operations, and when we get there, there's no smell there either)," he said in an interview with DZRH.

"May isang tubo doon na hindi naman ammonia ang laman kung hindi yung vapor na lang, o yung amoy ng ammonia ang natitira. Eh dahil hindi nila pwedeng pasukin, hindi naman rin makikita yun kondisyon. So yun yung nagleak na tubo, so vapor lang ng ammonia yun (There's a tube there that doesn't contain ammonia but not just the vapor, or the smell of ammonia that's left. Since they can't enter, the condition can't be seen either. So that's the leaking pipe, it's just ammonia vapor)," he added..
