Carlos vows fairness in dealing with official who attacked a police sarge in Legazpi City

Gen. Dionardo Carlos, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), vowed to exercise fairness in dealing with the case of a police colonel who attacked a police sergeant inside the Police Regional Office 5 headquarters in Legazpi City.

“Iyon po ang ating gagawin, maalagaan ang ating mga personnel at kung may pagkakamali po ay ito po ang laging sinasabi ko na corrective care (This is what we are going to do, we will take care of our personnel. If someone committed mistakes, we will address this with corrective care,” Carlos said.

On Sunday, Nov. 21, Carlos visited Police Master Sgt. Ricky Brabante who lost his left eye after being hit with a broken glass by Police Col. Dulnoan Dinamling Jr,

Dinamling, head of the Aviation Security Group in Bicol region, attended the birthday party of his classmate at the PNP Academy, Col. Lawrence Gomeyac, who was the commanding officer of the Regional Mobile Forces Battalion where Brabante was assigned. Both Dinamling and Gomeyac were already sacked from their posts.

Brabante was allegedly attacked by Dinamling after he ordered junior cops in formation to go to the tent at around 1 a.m., not knowing that the latter was talking to them. Dinamling was allegedly drunk when the incident occurred.

Carlos said that the incident must be treated as an isolated case because t"he act of one will not bring down the entire organization."

He also gave the assurance that he will render his decision according to the facts of the case.

“Wala akong sinasabing (I didn’t say) I will only take care of the high ranking officers, as the father of the PNP I will take care of everybody even if you're general or patrolman,” said Carlos.

As a way to remind his officers, he instructed the entire police force to continue to pursue the good work that they are supposed to deliver to the people.
