"The Phoenix" hopes to rise from the ashes with its retooled squad following the release of its all-Filipino team last September after missing out The International 10 this year.

TNC brought back its former coach in Febby who will now be providing the veteran leadership to the SEA region’s rising stars as the team captain.

“Rebuilding the team will never be easy, and despite this being our biggest hurdle yet, the Phoenix will work its way to rise again and compete in the highest level,” said TNC CEO Eric Redulfin in a statement.

The Philippin-=based squad featured rising Filipino talents led by Yowe who previously played for Execration. Joining him are fellow Filipinos Levi "YoungGod" Lagaret, Prieme Ejay "PlayHard" Maque and Malaysian Lee "Xiaoyu" Qian Yu.

TNC went back to its roots, aiming to develop up-and-coming players into a potent lineup with Febby at the helm – something that the esports organization has excelled doing, evident in its The International appearances in 2016 and 2017 where it played a relatively young squad with then-rising stars Carlo "Kuku" Palad of T1 and Marc Polo Luis "Raven" Fausto of Fnatic.

“For the past years, our team always had high-profile players but this time, we want to move in a different direction by picking up rising talents from the region and team them up with a veteran leader in the form of our new captain, Febby,” TNC said.

“Looking back, this is a formula that worked for us during 2016 and 2017. We hope that the same formula can bring positive results to our team,” the post added.

TNC fans will get a first look of their new roster when it takes on OB Esports x Neon in a show match on Saturday. TNC is set to see action in the DPC SEA 2021- ’22 Tour 1 as one of the six upper division teams together with SEA region giants, T1, and Fnatic.
