The Filipinos said they wanted to take on the 2021 Wild Rift SEA champions which denied them the title after a 4-1 beating in the Grand Finals.

“I would like to face SBTC Esports because they defeated us (in SEA Championship 2021),” said Robert “Trebor” Mansilungan in the aftermath of its sweep of Sengoku Gaming in its last match in the group stage.

SBTC, however, had Team Secret’s number during the 2021 SEA Championship with the former listing two victories against the PH representatives.

TS lost to Vietnam in their upper bracket semis match, 3-2, which dropped the Filipinos to the lower bracket playoffs. TS climbed its way to the Finals through the lower bracket, only to fall at the hands of SBTC, once again, in four games.

SBTC finished third in the Group A standings with 2-2 record while Team Secret ended up second in the Group B standings courtesy of a rousing finish in the group stage that saw them notch three straight 2-0 sweeps to finish with a 3-1 record.

TS’ only loss came against Group B leaders Thundertalk Gaming, 2-1, in its first match in the tournament.

Should the Filipinos successfully dispatch their former tormentors, they will face the unbeaten Chinese squad Da Kun Gaming in another best-of-five affair in the semifinal on Saturday while the best-of-seven Grand Finals is set on Sunday.
