De Lima’s office released a photo of Robredo visiting her at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center on Thursday morning.

“At around 11:30AM earlier today, Robredo visited De Lima at her detention quarters at the PNP Custodial Center, inside Camp Crame,” said a post on De Lima’s official Facebook page.

The Vice President posed with the “D5” handsign being used by De Lima who is seeking reelection under her senatorial slate for the 2022 polls.

Robredo and De Lima are partymates in the opposition Liberal Party, but the Vice President is running for president as an independent.

Outside Camp Crame, supporters of De Lima staged a flash mob at the gates to protest the continued detention of the embattled senator.

“Free Leila now,” they said in a message printed on their umbrellas.

De Lima is still in jail for what she and her allies called as “trumped up” drug charges under the current administration.

The opposition senator is detained for almost five years now on two drug-related cases but she maintained she is politically persecuted.
