P8.2-B fund for bonus and cash gifts for PNP personnel released

Personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) will start to the receive their year-end bonus following the release of P8.2 billion funds by the Department of Budget and Management.

PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said the fund will be used to pay for the mandated 2021 year-end bonus and cash gift of a total of 222,418 PNP personnel.

Carlos said the funds are from the regular PNP appropriations programmed in the agency’s 2021 budget.

Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr, PNP Finance Service Director, said the year-end bonus and cash gift has been credited to the individual payroll accounts of PNP Personnel with the Land Bank of the Philippines on November 18, 2021.

He said the Bonus is equivalent to one month basic pay while the Cash Gift is pro-rated at Php5,000.

But Nartatez said the year-end bonus and other bonuses, including the mid-year bonus exceeding Php90,000 are taxable. This affects a total of 15,587 PNP personnel.

The release of the 2021 Year-End Bonus and cash gift, however, is deferred for personnel with pending administrative cases.
