Incentives eyed for barangays to boost COVID-19 vax drive in Negros Occ.

BACOLOD CITY — The provincial government of Negros Occidental is eyeing to give incentives to barangays to boost the province’s vaccination drive against COVID-19.

This, after the province topped other provinces in Western Visayas with low outcome in vaccination.

Atty. Rayfrando Diaz II, provincial administrator, said barangays with good performance in the COVID-19 vaccination drive may receive financial incentives that they could use to fund their projects.

The province is targeting to inoculate 100,000 persons a week, as they are aiming to achieve herd immunity by February next year.

Diaz said that 25 percent of the vaccination-eligible population in the province has been vaccinated already.

With this, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson urged the village chiefs to create a demand for vaccination in their barangays and not depend on local chief executives.
