CAFGU member faces charges for killing son

GENERAL SANTOS CITY — A member of Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) is facing charges for the killing of his own son who ran amuck and tried to attack him in Alabel, Sarangani last Tuesday.

PMajor Wesley Matillano, Alabel police chief, said militiaman Roberto Padillo, 57, shot and killed his son, Jeckson who tried to attack him with a jungle bolo outside their house in Barangay Tokawal, Alabel town.

The suspect claimed that he shot the victim who resisted when he tried to pacify him to lay down the jungle bolo as he was challenging a duel in the neighborhood.

The victim, who was reeking with liquor, instead threatened to harm the suspect.

“I had to defend myself from a possible attack, that’s why I had to shoot him (victim,” the elder Padillo said.

The victim succumbed to four bullet wounds in the body borne by a .45 caliber pistol.

The suspect admitted that it was his fault but he showed no remorse in the killing of his son who also tried to kill him.

He yielded together with his firearm to the responding policemen.
