P3.3M worth of ecstasy seized at NAIA


Agents of the Bureau of Customs Port of NAIA (BOC-NAIA) and the NAIA-Inter-agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) seized some P3.3 million worth of ecstasy tablets that were supposed to be smuggled through a parcel with misdeclared items.

BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero said the ecstasy was supposed to be delivered to a certain Heart Valerine Garcia Cruz, of Taytay, Rizal.

Guerrero said the shipment was originally declared as a wedding dress but an revealed that it contains a total of 1,993 tablets of ecstasy party drugs were discovered which had an estimated market value of Php 3,388,100.00.

The seized illegal drugs have been turned over to PDEA for further investigation.

A cases of violation of Republic Act 9165 also known as the Comprehensive Drugs Act as well as RA 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), are now being readied against the suspect.
