BI nabs American fugitive in Mindoro resort

Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents have arrested an American fugitive wanted in the United States since 2018 for illegal possession of firearms.

BI fugitive search unit (FSU) chief Rendel Ryan Sy said that Paul Scott Finch, 51, was caught in Barangay Dulangan in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro following a warrant of deportation issued earlier this month.

Finch is the subject of two arrest warrants issued in Walton County Superior Court in Monroe, Georgia for possession of firearms. by a convicted felon.

“His passport has already been revoked by the US government, making him an undocumented alien,” Sy stated.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente commended the FSU for the arrest of the fugitive, saying that "desspite the pandemic, our officers take the risk and pursue these cases to ensure that these illegal aliens are arrested and deported."

Finch will be temporarily detained at the BI’s holding facility in Taguig City pending his deportation. His name has been included in the bureau’s blacklist, barring him from returning.
