Valenzuela City gov't allows contact sports starting Nov. 18

Basketball, volleyball, and other contact sports will be allowed in Valenzuela City starting Nov. 18, the local government announced on Tuesday, Nov. 16.

Residents, with ages 12 and above, can book their game schedules in their respective barangay halls.

All the participants (players, organizers, game officials) should be fully vaccinated and must submit a request, along with the list of their names and vaccination cards.

The organizers should also secure a free "Activity Pass" which they can get from the barangay officials.

The games should be held in various covered and open courts which can accommodate 50 percent of their maximum capacity for games indoors and 70 percent for outdoors.

The local government said that the requests will be approved within the day if the participants are able to submit complete requirements and if their desired time slot is available.

It added that players can have their face masks removed while on the court, but should be worn after the games.

Health and safety protocols must be observed and bystanders are not allowed.

The permission to conduct sports games in the city was based on the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Resolution number 21-28 released on Nov. 13.
