Paranaque City LGU distributes financial assistance to 3,400 college scholars

The Paranaque City government distributed financial assistance to about 3,400 college scholars amounting to P7,000 to P10,000 on Nov. 16.

Mar Jimenez, Public Information Office head, said the 3,400 college scholars were given financial assistance from the city government to help them cope with their expenses in their schooling.

Jimenez said college scholars with grades averaging from 82 to 84 received P7,000 each while those with 85 and above received P10,000 each.

He said the students can apply for financial assistance even if they are studying outside Paranaque but remain to be city residents.

The PIO chief added that the scholars must maintain their good grades for them to qualify for the city government’s college financial assistance.

Mayor Edwin Olivarez, who was present during the distribution of financial assistance, urged the students to study hard.

Olivarez also told the scholars the city government will help in looking for a job for them once they graduate.

He also told them the two colleges in the city -- Paranaque City College of Science and Technology and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Paranaque will open additional courses so that the students need not go to other cities to study.
