DOST logs over 4.4M S-PaSS active users

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has recorded over 4.4 million active users of Safe, Swift and Smart Travel Management System or S-PaSS.

Safe, Swift and Smart Travel Management System or S-PaSS (DOST)

S-PaSS serves as a one-stop online communication and coordination platform for travelers and local government units (LGUs). The system seeks to help the LGUs in managing the travelers coming from other parts of the country whether they are returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), local travelers, and tourists among others.

DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” T. de la Peña said currently, 4,456,929 individuals are using S-PaSS, which was developed by DOST-VI.

He said 84 percent of the LGUs are now using S-PaSS.

The DOST chief said a total of 2,909,933 Travel Pass Through Permits (TPPs) and 3,798,893 Travel Certification Permits (TCPs) have so far been processed.

He noted that the interoperability of One Health Pass System, VaxCert PH and S-PaSS “is ongoing."

De la Peña said a joint memorandum circular (JMC) for wider use and faster processing of travel document applications by the local government units (LGUs) is being formulated.

He said the crafting of JMC is being spearheaded by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) Small Working Group on Domestic Travel where DOST sits as a member.

“The S-PaSS, during the ongoing crisis, provides the much-needed assistance to the public in verifying with the authorities or other concerned entities the latest travel policies following health and safety measures being implemented in both origin and destination LGUs,” de la Peña said.
