PSC pays homage to female athletes through Gintong Gawad Award


The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) is set to recognize Filipina athletes who contributed to the development of their respective sports programs through the 2021 Gintong Gawad Award.

“Gintong Gawad was crafted and envisioned ostensibly designed to give due recognition to women for their outstanding contributions to grassroots women in sports," said PSC Commissioner Celia Kiram, who is also chairperson of Women in Sports.

"Sport is a platform for fun, fitness, unity, peace, camaraderie, teamwork, and many positive values that are extremely needed in this challenging period of pandemic."

Nominees will be vying for five categories namely Babaeng Atleta, Modelo ng Kabataan; Babaeng Atleta Modelo ng Isport sa Kumunidad; Kaagapay ng Isport sa Kumunidad (sponsor/benefactor); Natatangi at Makabagong Produktong Pang-Isport; and Proyektong Isport pang Kababaihan.

Only one awardee will win for each category and is bound to receive P50,000 and a plaque of recognition from the PSC.

Athletes should be 21 years old and below as of Dec. 31, 2021, must never been part of the national pool regardless of Class A, B, C, Grassroots, Developmental, has never received an allowance from the PSC as an elite athlete, and has no derogatory records in school or community.

The search for the Gintong Gawad awardees will end two weeks from now on Nov. 30.
