Only about 60,000 need to be fully vaccinated for Manila to achieve herd immunity


A total of 1,292,617 individuals have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Manila as of Saturday, Nov. 13.

The Department of Health’s (DOH) target population for Manila is 1,351,487, and the current fully vaccinated population represents 95.64 percent of this target.

Only 58,870 individuals need to be fully vaccinated in order for Manila to claim herd immunity.

However, in terms of total first doses administered, Manila has already exceeded the DOH target.

At least 1,449,033 have received their first dose, which is 107.22 percent of the DOH target.

Meanwhile, the city has also been aggressively pursuing mass pediatric vaccination and almost 50,000 minors have received at least their first dose.

In its latest report, Manila has recorded 271 active COVID-19 cases as of Nov. 14.
