Isko’s Cebu supporters hold ‘Walk for Hope’ event

CEBU CITY – Supporters of Manila Mayor and presidential bet Isko Moreno in Cebu participated in the nationwide simultaneous Blue Wave Caravan on Sunday, November 14.

As early as 5:30 a.m. about 600 volunteers from Isulong Ang Serbisyo Katawhang Organisado (ISKO), an affiliate of President ISKO Movement Isulong Kapakanan ng Pilipino (PRIMO-ISKO), YORME ng Pilipinas and ISKO Ta Bai gathered at the foot of the old Mactan-Mandaue Bridge to participate in an event dubbed as "Walk for Hope."

The event was graced by Nato Agbayani, who is the national chairman of PRIMO-ISKO.

In expressing their support, the group believed that Moreno has the qualities to become the country's next president.

"We believe in his competence, style of leadership and effecient service. He is the only candidate who can relate to the plight of the poor being once a "kargador" and "basurero"," said Edward Ligas, lead convenor of the multi-sectoral organizations.

Ligas added that among the current presidential aspirants, it is only Moreno who has "the heart for the people."

"What matters most is the people. With the people and Isko, there is hope for the country," said Ligas.

Ligas said the group was also unfazed by the recent development that may forge a Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos-Sara Duterte-Carpio tandem.

The Davao City mayor on Saturday filed her certificate of candidacy for vice president and was later adopted by Marcos' political party.

Ligas admitted that the possible tandem of Marcos and Duterte-Carpio is going to be formidable but some changes may still happen after the deadline of the substitution of candidates.

"BBM-Sarah is formidable tandem. But it is based on royalty and silver platter. These candidates have names because of their fathers and could hardly relate the plight of the poor. For us, Isko is a symbol of hope and good governance," said Ligas.
