In a press briefing, Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said the primary debate will be some sort of teaser for the upcoming debates that they are planning to organize.

"We are looking at one primary debate, three presidential, and three vice presidential debates," he said Thursday, Nov. 11.

"Probably early in the year sort of a teaser for the debates," added Jimenez.

He revealed that the upcoming presidential debates will be different from the past.

"In the last presidential debates, basically the debates were given to several groups of media entities. We are looking at a different implementation model now, which is one organizer of the debate and everyone gets to cover it equally," Jimenez said.

He said the debates will be hybrid where the candidates will be debating face to face but the audience will be virtual.

"The debates will be spead out throughout the campaign period, February, March, April," said Jimenez.

"Again, all of this is still in the planning stage," he added.
