Political clans in E. Visayas support BBM


TACLOBAN CITY - Political clans and leaders in Eastern Visayas expressed their support for presidential aspirant Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. who visited here Monday (November 8) for the 8th anniversary of Supertyphoon 'Yolanda' (Haiyan).In a gathering headed by Marcos' cousin Majority Floor Leader Martin Romualdez,

Southern Leyte Governor Damian Mercado, accompanied by other local chief executives, vowed to support Marcos' presidential bid.

"Nandito kami lahat to show support. Solid ang Southern Leyte," he said, citing the need to support Marcos whose maternal relatives are from Region 8.

The Mercados belong to the ruling party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP-LABAN) whose standard-bearer is Senator Ronald 'Bato' dela Rosa under the Cusi-faction.

The Espinas of Biliran, represented by the League of the Municipalities in the Philippines-Biliran Chair Mayor Rudy Espina of Kawayan, also expressed their support for Marcos.

"Kami po sa Biliran, sapul noong una pa, during the time of the Constitutional Convention, Marcos na po kami," he shared.

He pointed out the need for change and to bring back the trust of the people on the president after several administrations that had passed.

"Kami po ay ibang partido rin, pero sa presidente, Bongbong Marcos kami," he added.

Marcos pledged to have a unifying leadership regardless of political affiliations once he becomes president.

Hundreds of his supporters, who were wearing red shirts, also staged a caravan during his visit.
