Police dismantle drug den in Taguig


Police operatives dismantled a suspected drug den and arrested five persons in Taguig City on Monday.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director, Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg, announced that elements from the District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU-SPD) led by Police Maj. Cecilio Tomas Jr., along with the District Mobile Force Battalion personnel, held a buy-bust operation at about 4:45 p.m. on Nov. 8 that resulted in the dismantling of a drug den on Kalayaan Street, Brgy Ususan, Taguig.

Arrested in the operation were Alladin Escobar, 37; Ma. Fe Magallanes, 36; Zenaida Bilan, 64; Erlinda Macay, 58; and Ramon Granado, 53, all residents of Brgy. Ususan.

Confiscated during the operation were six plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) weighing about seven grams with an estimated value of 47,600, one P500 bill used as buy-bust money, two aluminum foils with residue, and one lighter.

The police will charge the suspects with violations of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

“I am warning our countrymen not to get involved in any illegal activities because we are serious in our mandate. We are calling on the public to cooperate with the police and not be afraid to report to the nearest station any illegal activity in their area,” said Macaraeg.
