MB Daily News Update

With just six days before the deadline on substitution of candidates for the May 2022 elections, there was considerable movement at the Duterte camp in Davao City with Mayor Sara Duterte announcing her withdrawal her re-election bid in favor of her brother Sebastian, who, in turn, dropped his own run for another term as vice mayor.

This set of developments has stirred a concoction of possibilities with the foremost being that Mayor Sara will run for the presidency after all.

Meanwhile, the row over the lifting of the face shield mandate continued with Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduard Ano taking the side of mayors in their assertion that they could implement rules within their jurisdictions, such as removing the requirement of wearing face shields.

These are among the top stories this busy Tuesday afternoon, November 9, 2021.
