Metro Manila Council to issue resolution on lifting of face shield policy

Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the Metro Manila Council (MMC) will issue a resolution setting the guidelines on the lifting of mandatory wearing of face shields.

In a text message, Olivarez said the MMC resolution on the lifting of the face shield mandate will be released anytime by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

He said Paranaque City will revoke the face shield rule through an executive order.

MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos earlier announced that during the MMC meeting on Nov. 7, the 17 Metro Manila mayors agreed to lift the face shield requirement except in hospitals, health centers, and public transport vehicles.

He said the MMC is supporting the proposal of Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Ano for the non-mandatory wearing of face shields.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Monday signed an executive order making the wearing of face shield optional.
