Robbery hold-up suspect nabbed in QC


A robbery hold-up suspect who stole a motorcycle was arrested in an entrapment operation conducted by the police in Quezon City on Friday, Nov. 5.

Police Lt. Col. Cipriano Galinda, chief of the Quezon City Police District(QCPD) Talipapa Police Station 3 (PS 3), identified the suspect as Micheal Jovit Marasigan, 35, a resident of Brgy. Baesa, Quezon City.

According to the QCPD, the victim, Mark Anthony Somido, 29, a "habal-habal" driver, asked for help on Nov. 5, after Marasigan called him and demanded money in exchange for his motorcyle.

The PS 3 carried out the entrapment operation along Mendez Road, Brgy. Baesa, leading to Marasigan's arrest at around 12:20 a.m.

Somido said the suspect acted as a passenger from Las Piñas going to Quezon City on Oct. 25.

Marasigan declared the heist along the way, taking the victim's Yamaha Mio motorcycle, a cellphone, and P2,000 cash.

Authorities seized a .22 caliber pistol, a driver's license, entrapment money, and a cellular phone from the suspect.

Somido's motorcycle was not recovered.

Marasigan had previous cases for illegal drugs, violation of Repubic Act 10591 or "Illegal Possession of Firearm" and theft, the police said.

The suspect will be charged for Robbery Extortion in connection with Robbery Hold-up.
