Iloilo routs rivals for share of lead in PCAP online tilt

Iloilo routed its rivals to share the lead with Team Paralympics in the third conference of the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) online tournament over the weekend.

The Kisela Knights first trounced the Camarines Soaring Eagle, 15-6, then hammered down the Mindoro Tamaraws, 19-2, to hike their win-loss tally to 15-4 along with Team Paralympics on top of the Southern Division standings.

Woman FIDE Master Cherry Ann Mejia, National Master John Michael Silvederio and Lloyd Lanciola prevailed in their respective two matches to steer Iloilo in blitz, 6-1, and rapid, 10-4.

They resumed their rampage against Mindoro, where they swept their blitz event, 7-0, and dropped only one match in the rapid, 12-2.

Trailing Iloilo and Paralympics were Singapore and Penang with 13-6 marks, followed by Negros (12-7), Lapu-Lapu (11-8), Toledo (9-10), Camarines (8-11), Surigao (5-14), Palawan 3-16), Mindoro (3-16), and Sunrays (1-17).

Meanwhile, San Juan and Pasig continued to pace the Northern Division with identical 18-1 records followed by Laguna and Caloocan, which share similar 15-4 marks.

San Juan crushed Rizal, 18-3, and Olongapo, 16-5, while Pasig thrashed Isabela, 14-5-6.5, and Caloocan, 14.5-6.5.

Manila trailed at solo fifth with a 14-5 mark, followed by Isabela (9-10), Davao (8-11), Rizal (7-12), Bangkok (6-13), Pampanga (6-13), Olongapo (4-15) and Pengcheng (0-18).
