Dwight Ramos, Toyama absorb ninth loss

Dwight Ramos and the Toyama Grouses came up short in their upset bid and lost on the road to the Kawasaki Brave Thunders, 91-87, Saturday, Nov. 6 in the resumption of their B.League campaign.

The Grouses overcame a double-digit deficit before eventually succumbing to their ninth defeat after 10 games in the Japanese league’s 2021-22 season inside the Kawasaki Todoroki Arena.

Ramos finished with 13 points, four rebounds, seven assists and two steals for Toyama, which last week advanced to the next phase of the All-Japan Basketball Championship.

Julian Mavunga tallied 22 points, six rebounds and five assists while Keijuro Matsui added 21 for Toyama.

Ex-TNT import Joshua Smith registered 12 points and six rebounds, also for the Grouses.

Naturalized player and former PBA import Nick Fazekas led Kawasaki with 27 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Ramos had six points and three assists in the third which saw Toyama cut a 15-point second quarter deficit down to 65-64 entering the fourth.
