4 ranking officers get new posts as Eleazar reshuffles PNP again

Four senior officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) were designated to higher posts effective Friday, Nov. 5, in yet another round of reshuffle in the organization following the retirement of a police general.

Police Gen. Guillermo Eleazar elevated Police Brig. Gen. Michael John Dubria to the PNP Directorial Staff as he was named the acting Director for Intelligence.

Dubria replaced Police Maj. Gen. Dennis Agustin who turned in his badge Friday upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 56 years old for police personnel.

Dubria’s former post as regional director of SOCCSKSARGEN Police Regional Office (PRO-12) which covers South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City will be taken over by Police Brig. Gen. Alexander Tagum.

The PNP Highway Patrol Group (HPG), which was previously headed by Tagum, will now be handled by Police Brig. Gen. Gregory Bongalbal.

Bongalbal was the former Senior Executive Assistant (SEA) of the Office of the Chief PNP. He will be replaced by Police Col. Neri Vincent Ignacio in the vacated post.

This was the second time in five days that Eleazar – who himself will retire on Nov. 13 – reorganized the PNP’s higher echelon.

An earlier reorganization in key positions was implemented last Nov. 1 after the retirement of Police Maj. Gen. Ferdinand Daway, who was replaced by Police Brig. Gen. Valeriano De Leon as the director of the Civil Security Group (PNP-CSG).

De Leon relinquished his post as the regional director of the Central Luzon Police Regional Office (PRO-3) to former Eastern Police District (EPD) director, Police Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay.
