Marcos camp calls Comelec petition 'black propaganda'

The camp of presidential aspirant and Partido Federal ng Pilipinas standard-bearer Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. has called the petition for the cancellation of his certificate of candidacy (COC) a 'black propaganda' plan to stop him from winning in the 2022 national election.

Marcos' spokesman and lawyer Vic Rodriguez, in an interview with GMA-DZBB, said that the former senator told him to prepare for more 'gutter politics' as next year's May elections draw near.

“Naiiling na lang. Sinabihan niya ako na this is just the start of their vicious attacks para pigilan siya sa kanyang kandidatura (He's shaking his head. He told me that this is just the start of their vicious attacks to prevent his candidacy),” Rodriguez said when asked about Marcos’ reaction to the petition.

He added that the former lawmaker told him to remind his supporters not to engage in gutter politics.

“Sinabihan niya kami na huwag mapikon at huwag pansinin at tuloy lang ang kampanya na (He told us not to get offended or pay attention to it and just continue with our campaign for a) unifying leadership,” Rodriguez said.

The spokesperson-cum-chief of staff noted that the petitioners calling for the cancellation of Marcos' COC before the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) are 'attack dogs' coming from their political opponents.

“Kitang-kita ng sambayanang Filipino na patuloy ang pang-aapi ng iba’t ibang grupong dilawan kay presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos (The Filipino people can clearly see the continuing oppression coming from various 'yellow' groups on presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos),” said Rodriguez who also called the petition 'dirty politics' thrown at their camp.

“Alam naman ng lahat na ito ay nagmumula sa ‘yellow wannabe political assassins’ (Everyone knows that this comes from the ‘yellow wannabe political assassins),” Rodriguez stressed. (Melvin Sarangay)
