San Juan LGU to launch National ID registration per barangay

The San Juan City local government announced on Tuesday that it will open the registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) National ID in different barangays in the city.

"Ang Lungsod ng San Juan, sa pangunguna ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) sa pakikipagtulungan ng mga barangay, ay magkakaroon po ng Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) registration para sa National ID sa mga piling lugar dito sa ating lungsod (The City of San Juan together with the Philippine Statistics Authority and the city's barangays will launch a Philippine Identification System registration for the National ID in different areas in the city)," San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said.

The full schedule and requirements for the PhilSys National ID registration in San Juan can be found in the city's official Facebook page and Zamora's official Facebook page.

The mayor also reminded residents that walk-ins are still not allowed and urged them to follow their barangay's assigned schedule.

Signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte in August, 2018, Republic Act 11055, the Philippine Identification System Act, aims to establish a single national ID for all Filipinos and resident aliens.

The national ID shall be a valid proof of identity that aims to simplify public and private transactions, enrollment in schools, and opening of bank accounts.

It will also boost efficiency, especially in dealing with government services where people will only need to present one ID in their transactions.
