The university’s decision was announced through the PLM's website on Saturday, Oct. 30.

PLM President Emmanuel Leyco said the break was declared in order to give students and faculty more time with family and to recuperate both mentally and physically.

“The pandemic remains to be a cause for concern in our daily living despite more than a year of lockdowns and changing community quarantine protocols. We hope that everyone can take this time to reflect and recharge so they can carry on for the rest of the semester,” said Leyco.

Leyco also advised faculty members not to assign any deadlines nor should any classes be held during the break.

PLM also moved all scheduled midterm examinations for undergraduates to Nov. 8 to 14.

However, the PLM College of Law, PLM College of Medicine 4th year students, and other PLM graduate programs are exempted from the academic break.
