Las Pinas government receives 530 edible landscaping starter kits

The Las Pinas City government received on Thursday a total of 530 edible landscaping starter kits from University of the Philippines Los Banos.

The starter kit is about urban farming through edible landscaping.

The 530 edible landscaping starter kits were turned over to the city by Dr. Fernando Sanchez Jr., professor and project leader of edible landscaping of the UP Los Banos College of Agriculture and Food Science – Institute of Crop Science.

Mayor Imelda, Vice Mayor Nery Aguilar and Dr. August Michael Basangan, city veterinarian and city agriculture officer-in-charge, received the starter kits.

The mayor said Las Pinas is one of the cities in the National Capital Region (NCR) chosen by the UP Los Banos to part of the Department of Agriculture–Bureau of Agricultural Research project dubbed “Edible Landscaping Magtanim ng Gulay para sa isang Masagana,Malusog at Makulay na Buhay.”

Aguilar said the starter kits donated to the city could help those who want to plant vegetables and turn their backyards into edible gardens.
