Presidential aspirant and Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso on Tuesday, Oct. 26, said he will appoint his running mate, Dr. Willie Ong, as health secretary if he gets elected as the country's next president.
Domagoso, in an interview with CNN Philippines, said Ong had committed that he will help him fix the public health system in the country.
“Bibigyan ko ng laya si Dr. Willie Ong kasi (gusto) ko siya maging Sekretaryo ng Kalusugan bilang Vice President (I will give Dr. Willie Ong freedom because I want him to be the Secretary of Health as Vice President),” he said.
The Manila mayor added Ong will still assist him in choosing the next head of the Department of Health (DOH) even if he declines the offer.
“Pero sabi niya, tutulong siya sa akin, tutulong siya makapamili ng mapipili niya, mapupusuan niya na magaling, episyente, at may kakayanan dun sa usaping pangkalusugan ng mga kababayan nating Pilipino (He said he will help me choose and he will ensure the health of all Filipinos),” he said.
Domagoso and Ong are running under the Aksyon Demokratiko party.
